Arthur’s 2 months old!!

Our baby is growing up so quickly.  On March 13th he turned 2 months old.  He is seriously the best baby!  I don’t know how we were so blessed to have two sweet babies.  He is starting to have longer stretches of sleeping.  One night he went 5 hours and I was in heaven!!  But on average he is still between 3-4 hours.  He busted his 1st really big sincere smile at me on the 9th.  It was so amazing to see his eyes light up and to see him so excited!

Henry continues to be in love with his baby brother.  The other day one of the neighborhood boys and Henry were out riding bikes and the little boy proclaimed that he was a big brother…..Henry says quiet loudly  “I’m a big brother too, to baby Art”  it was hilarious.  He still cheers Arthur on with diaper changes and reminds him that he is being “so brave”.    The best is when Henry will be talking to Arthur and then say “Oh Arthur James…you are so silly”

Arthur’s Blessing

I wrote this post a month ago…and now am posting…sorry for the delay.

The 1st week of March we had the sweet experience of blessing our new little one.  We had lots of family in town to celebrate with us and had a blast.

Henry was especially excited to see all of his Uncles and his cousins Savannah and Nathan.  He LOVES his cousins and has yet to stop talking about them.  He does not understand why he can’t play with them everyday.  We loved having all of our family in town and were so sad to see them go.  Having everyone here for a few days and then having them leave again makes it hard to live so far from family.  But we are getting very excited to have all of my brothers close by soon!

We were able to kick off the weekend by having Sushi night with Rob, Ryan and David.  Friday we hit up the zoo, and it actually turned into a decent weather day in Portland!  Friday night we all went and saw Rob perform with SPOON.  It was a fun show!  Saturday we hit up the Gorge and Multnomah Falls.  Sunday was Arthur’s blessing and the day of rest!  Monday we went to the Portland Children’s Museum and had a ball.  I love that place!

Here are some pictures from the weekend.  THANK YOU to all who came and supported our family!  We love you all!

The Future of the PGA Mr. Henry Ryan Salo

Ever since Arthur has been born we’ve tried to take Henry out  for some one-on-one time.  Since Henry loves golf so much, Troy has been taking him to the driving range.  Now Henry wakes up every morning and begs to go to the driving range.  He even prays for it at night in his prayers.  HILARIOUS!

When Troy and Henry are at hitting balls together at the range they make quite a scene.  Troy said that people were staring and pointing at Henry so I finally had to go and see for myself.  The kid is actually a pretty good golfer.  I just wonder how much longer this sports obsession will last?

Pictures of the boys…

Henry patiently waiting to head out for Church on his 1st day of Sunbeams…which is now no more.  He is the only sunbeam so he is stuck in nursery for another year!  At least he loves his nursery workers!

Beautiful baby Arthur.  He is seriously the most perfect baby ever!!  But then again I am not biased :)  I don’t know how we got so lucky to have two easy going little boys!

Henry showing his game face.  You are looking at the next starter on the Portland Trail Blazers….He is their biggest fan!  He can recite the entire starting line up….and he didn’t pick that up from our coaching him.  The kid is just obsessed with sports!

Love that Face (big yawn)!!  Arthur loves his bath time.  He is so relaxed and could seriously be in the tub for hours if we let him.

Introducing Henry’s new best friend.  When we 1st brought Arthur home Henry would get really upset when he would cry or even squeak.  It took him an entire 2 weeks to finally pull it together and now he is the best little helper in the world.  He is Arthur’s binky monitor, swing monitor, diaper fetcher, and always announces when Art needs to have more milk.  Henry is also so fascinated with the breast pump and has even given it a try himself.  Henry loves to hold Art and hold his hand while he is nursing.  He has shown his brother several times how to sing the song “Where is Thumb kin” but is quiet frustrated that Art won’t keep his hands in place….it is hilarious!  Henry is always asking to hold Arthur and kiss on him.  I hope that this is the start of a beautiful friendship between our two boys.

Introducing Arthur James Salo

100_3109

So where have we been the past several months. Busy being pregnant and making it through each day. The Salo family is excited to announce the arrival of Arthur James Salo. Arthur was born January 13th at 5:30 p.m. He weighed in at 5lbs 10oz and is 18 inches long.

For those of you interested in the details. We were scheduled for another c-section on the 29th of this month. But my water broke at 6 a.m. on the 13th and little Art decided he wanted to come early.

We were fortunate enough to have my brothers Rob and Scott somewhat close in Seattle for them to come down and celebrate with us. They were huge help in hanging with Henry while I was in the hospital. We don't know what we would of done without them.

This childbirth experience was completely different than with Henry. Arthur actually cried when he came out, Troy was able to hold him while they finished the surgery, he was with us every second of the way after he was born, even in our room with us all during our hospital stay, and he weighed 2lbs 1 oz more than his older brother when he was born.

It has been a wild two weeks having a newborn and a 3 year old in the house together. But incredible to see the next generation of the Salo boys together. We are so blessed to have our two boys and especially a healthy baby.

The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.
Each player answers the questions about themselves.
At the end, the player tags 5 others and posts their names. Then goes to their blog and posts them a comment to let them know they've been tagged and asks them to read your blog to find out the details.

1. What I was doing 10 years ago: 10 years ago I had just completed my freshman year of college at Ricks. I was home for the summer working like crazy. I worked full time and took 9 credits during the summer. Looking back now I was way to serious for a 19 year old and driven…what has happened between then and now?

Something else that takes me back 10 years is certain music…such as Sarah McLoughlin, Tonic, Weezer, Melissa Ethridge, Jewel, Live, Dixie Chicks, The Cranberries, Counting Crows, Collective Soul, Alanis Morrisett…and of course INSync…my roommate Lacy was there biggest fan! I seriously thought she would end of marrying Justin Timberlake some day.

2. Five things on my to-do list today: scrub our hardwood floors (which I hate – that of course did not get done), take Henry to the park, cook dinner for the sister missionaries, read, laugh lots with my boys

3. If I were a billionaire I would: Invest, Invest, Invest…that is after I paid off our house, and bought a vacation home in Hawaii! (which we would hold yearly family reunions at of course my expense) I would then spread the wealth to my immediate family….what fun is having money if you can’t help out those you love the most.

4. Bad habits: oh my….Well those who know me well know that I used to have a pretty filthy mouth. Yes I could swear like a sailor when the moment was just right. Now that I have a little one that has been put into check. Which has been a huge blessing! I love Diet Pepsi….after I cleansed (The Master Cleanse – more post later on this) I gave it up for a month and didn’t miss it at all. But now I am back to drinking Diet Pepsi at least twice a week. And of course I am the best Procrastinator in the world. I really should have gotten my degree in this! I am also a little bit of a neurotic cleaner. This has gotten better now that we have a 2 year old to make everything messy….but I still need to work on relaxing.

5. Five places I've lived:Kansas, Idaho, Hawaii, California, Oregon6. Five jobs I've had:Receptionist, Computer Lab Worker Bee, Computer Fix it lady, Information Systems Trainer, Sr. West Coast Regional Manager …sad to say I don’t miss any of these jobs. I am now seriously taken with my current job.

Anyone who would like to participate I would like to tag….It was fun to reminisce.
